The Victorian Government announces further support for businesses in metropolitan Melbourne

We are now all facing further restrictions in response to the spread of COVID-19.

  • Stage 4 restrictions are in place from 6pm on Sunday 2 August for metropolitan Melbourne.
  • Stage 3 restrictions are in place from 11:59pm on Wednesday 5 August for Regional Victoria, including Mitchell Shire.

Most workplaces in Metropolitan Melbourne will now see mandatory closure or new limitations on business, prompting the Victorian Government to announce additional financial support for employing businesses throughout Victoria.

One-off grants will be made available to eligible businesses under the Business Support Fund-Expansion program:

  • $10,000 for employing businesses in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire in recognition of spending longer under restrictions
  • $5,000 for employing businesses in regional local government areas (except Mitchell Shire)

Businesses with active Business Support Fund – Expansion grant applications or those who have already received the grant are not required to re-apply. Successful applicants will automatically receive this additional allocation!

More information is available through the Business Victoria website. You can also contact Business Victoria directly through their coronavirus hotline on 13 22 15.
