Yesterday afternoon the Government released an extraordinary stimulus package to support employers and designed to help us all get through this mess, dubbed Jobkeeper program.
If an employer’s turnover has decreased by 30% they could be entitled to $1,500 per fortnight per employee. Full time and part-time employees, including stood down employees, would be eligible for the JobKeeper Payment. Where a casual employee has been with their employer for at least the previous 12 months they will also be eligible for the payment.
The Government also made reference to self-employed individuals being entitled to this subsidy. We are yet to have an indication that this could apply to beneficiaries of trust or partners of partnerships.
At this time we only have information conveyed to us through the recent announcement, we do not have the legislation and further detail of exactly who will be entitled to receive this supplement or how it will work, although we will update you all with the information as soon as we can.
