This Is How We Roll

Tax Return Time 2020

What a year 2020 has been; bushfires, a global pandemic, social unrest, panic buying, no sport, no pubs bars or restaurants, house parties are on your phone, Marley Spoon & Zoom are share market darlings, and social distancing is harder than it sounds!

By The Numbers closed the office in early March and it was staggering to see how little time we lost, thanks to the business systems we had in place. We relocated our business to everyone’s home office and were fully operational within hours of making the call to close down the physical office.

This is no time for complacency when it comes to keeping safe during the global pandemic, therefore the By The Numbers office will remain closed to ALL client meetings until we’re advised by the government that we can open for face-to-face meetings.

Our Covid-19 Tax Plan

We have come up with a number of options to get your 2020 Tax Return sorted with us!

Option 1 – Cool Your Jets

If you prefer to see our beautiful faces in person, we are planning on opening the office back up to face to face appointments as soon as we are allowed to.

At this stage, we are not taking appointments for office consultations just yet, as we just do not know what the future holds.

We will be guided by the announcement made by the authorities as the virus spread progresses over the next few months and comply with any restrictions necessary.

Option 2 – Zoom Tax Return Appointment

We have all become super comfortable using Zoom/Teams/House Party (and likely wearing ugg-boots while we do) over the last few months, so why not sort your tax returns with us over a web meeting?

Just like a face to face chat, we can work through your tax situation and get the best possible tax outcome for you.

To streamline the booking/Zoom process, we have implemented a new booking system to handle our tax time 2020 appointments, which you can access in the button below.

You all know the drill by now, the Zoom Link will be in your Calendar appointment, just download the app on your computer or phone, have you deductions collated totalled and ready to go and be sure to log into your zoom appointment on time.

Tax returns will be signed off via Digital Signature built into our Xero tax return software.

Option 3 – Document Drop Service (with follow up phone chat)

Sometimes it is just easier to collate your physical documents and bring them into the office!

There will be a point of difference this year however, we will not be processing them in person.

We have a secure mailbox at the base of our building, number 103.

Place your documents in an envelope, label the envelope: Tax 2020 with your name, and book a phone chat through our online booking system through the button below.

We will call you to work through your documents.

Tax returns will be signed off via Digital Signature built into our Xero tax return software. If you live in the inner-west, we will arrange to have your documents dropped back to you.

Of course, you can always post your documents to our office if preferable to our postal address below.

Unit 103
175B Stephen Street
Yarraville, Vic, 3013

Option 4 – Email your working papers & support documents

Instead of emailing your tax documents (as many of you already do), we encourage you to upload your documents to a folder in DropBox, OneDrive, or Google Drive and send us a link to your documents via email.

Not only is this a great way to share your documents with us, but it is also a fantastic way of storing your important tax documents!

When filing your documents into DropBox or one of the above options, please add your name and the tax year to the title of the folder, for example, “Smith, John Tax Documents 2020”.

Collating your data in Excel or Google Sheets provides an excellent format for us to slice and dice and complete your tax returns efficiently and maximise your return.

Word is not ideal for tax documents.

We have also developed a new Excel Data Collection form for 2020, if you would like our 2020 Tax Deduction Template, please email us at info@btna.com.au

Stay up to date with our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates on any new announcements as a result of the COVID-19 virus.
